Disjoint review – Neat puzzler that tells a hammy tale

Disjoint is kind of like a Yankai’s Peak for those after an easier, cuter ride. Just like Kenny Sun’s recent masterpiece, Disjoint concerns itself with the interlinked rotational movement of equilateral triangles. Here, though, the solutions are always more readily apparent and less convoluted – not to mention that they’re charmingly presented Triangulate With each puzzle in Disjoint you must move a couple of triangles into their designated parking bays. You do this by swiping and holding to set them rotating. As long as there’s a fellow triangle within range to hook onto, they’ll scuttle along their jagged route. The main challenge early on is to do…

Final Fantasy Legends 2 review – Somewhere between a true Final Fantasy and a mobile game

There are some interesting ideas at play in Final Fantasy Legends 2. It’s not a full FF game by any mean, but it’s not a completely stripped back mobile game either. Instead it sits somewhere in between, mixing together concepts from different corners of the FF universe. And it all works pretty darn well. This is a game you can push your face into, or if you’d prefer dive in and watch some numbers go up. It’s not without its problems, but there’s definitely a lot here to like. Dimensions of play After some plotty preamble, the game kicks you into a strange world. The…

ArcheAge Begins review – An RPG that forgets what makes it interesting

With RPGs having rapidly become quite stagnant on mobile, it’s genuinely refreshing to see any game that makes even the slightest of changes to the formula. So while ArcheAge Begins may not be the best or most original game out there, its unique mechanics and visual flair definitely works to its advantage. But instead of highlighting these more interesting aspects, the game instead bogs itself down in endless menus and confusing diversions. So it begins ArcheAge Begins is, on the surface, fairly typical. You create a team of four characters, and then send them into battle against waves of enemies across a series…

Dreamworks: Universe of Legends review – A casual RPG with all of your favourite Dreamworks animated characters

Dreamworks: Universe of Legends is a casual RPG featuring characters from a bunch of your favourite Dreamworks movies. To be honest though, if you don’t have favourite Dreamworks movies you’re not really going to find much to enjoy here. The game feels like it’s targeted at the younger end of the gaming spectrum, thanks in no small part to the cast of pandas, dragons, and other famous animated heroes that you’re getting to play with. And there’s a decent enough game bubbling under all the trappings. It’s not enough to make you throw down everything you’re doing and rub the game…
